Not everything in the supply chain should be automated
While most retailers are in a race to automate as much of their supply chains as possible, some researchers feel that not everything should qualify as a candidate to solve through automation. There are some fundamental processes that will require, at least short term, human intervention and decision making. Robotics has surged exponentially and is expected to continue to do so in the near future but according to John Santagate, research director for the service robotics market at IDC, in a recent interview with Supply Chain Dive, "Just because you can automate something doesn't mean you should."
